Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Hwangsanji is a pumping-type reservoir created in December 1962 by a reclamation project connecting Chojijin and Hwangsando. It is almost rectangular in shape, with embankments on three sides. The water is generally shallow, and the bottom is muddy. The deepest point is about 3–4 meters. The upstream area (in front of the management office) is shallow with abundant aquatic plants, making it a popular spring fishing spot. It offers consistent fishing from early spring to autumn, especially thriving during the spawning season. Nearby attractions include Jeondeungsa Temple, Chojijin, and Jeongju Fortress.
