Why travelers stop here
The history of Incheon General Fish Market dates back to the opening port period of Incheon. In the late 1880s, Japanese residents in Incheon consumed a large amount of fish, which naturally led to the formation of a seafood market. After Incheon opened its port, the market gradually developed, and in 1975, an urban renewal project filled the area around Yeonan Pier, resulting in the current Incheon General Fish Market. Here, fresh fish and seafood caught directly from nearby coastal waters, along with marine products delivered from across the country on the same day, create a true underwater food paradise. Most fish species caught in the West Sea can be found here. Since they are sold at much lower prices than in the market, there is a constant flow of visitors looking to purchase fresh seafood all year round.
