Why travelers stop here

The Statue of Dr. Syngman Rhee (Uam) is located within Baejae High School, built to commemorate Dr. Syngman Rhee's contributions to the independence movement. Erected in 1984, the statue stands 3 meters tall and 1 meter wide. Syngman Rhee, who studied classical Chinese literature from a young age, entered Baejae Hakdang, the predecessor of Baejae High School where the statue now stands, and learned modern studies. He led reform movements in the press and the Independence Club during the enlightenment period and was imprisoned. After his release, he went to the United States, earned a doctorate, and engaged in diplomatic, national education, and promotional activities abroad for Korea's liberation. After liberation, he served as the first President of the Republic of Korea upon its establishment in 1948.
