Yongin Gugal Respia

Located near the Korean Folk Village, Gugal Respia is a natural ecological park featuring a children's playground, a dog park, and various sports facilities. It offers a comfortable resting place that feels like a forest without having to travel far, making it an ideal family outing spot. Yongin City's eco-friendly sewage treatment facility 'Respia' combines 'Rest' and 'Utopia', and was completed in 2005, creating citizen-friendly facilities beyond simple sewage treatment. The sewage treatment facilities are all buried underground, and the ground level features a rest area harmonized with nature, which won the Excellence Award in Environmental Innovation Cases hosted by the Ministry of Environment in 2006. Gugal Respia consists of a health yard (basketball court, badminton court, gateball court, mini-football field, 3 play facilities, 1 play plaza, walking trails), a nature learning center (ecological pond and wetland garden, stream), and other facilities (outdoor stage, Cheoin Plaza, Yonggu Plaza fountain, Firefly Plaza, Sky Bridge). The dog park, opened in 2016, has separate play areas for large and small/medium dogs for safe enjoyment, and the children's playground is an energy-education type playground where children can learn the principles of energy generation through playground equipment with built-in generators, combining play and education. The stream and ecological pond in the nature learning center, where purified water from Respia flows, are great walking trails for observing various aquatic organisms and healing. Tents and tarps are prohibited in the park; use the public Gugal Jaturi Parking Lot and cross the Rainbow Bridge to enter the park. It is about 7 minutes by car from Suwon Singal IC, and about 6 minutes on foot (360m) from Everline Jiseok Station. Nearby attractions include Everland, Korean Folk Village, UNESCO World Heritage Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Yungneung and Geolleung Royal Tombs, and Mulhyanggi Arboretum.
