Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Unlike other mountains in Yangcheon-gu, which generally have rounded mountain ranges, Galsan boasts a spectacular view with its eastern part carved like a cliff. Due to the long-term erosion of Anyangcheon Stream, the mountain peak has become sharp like a blade, and it was originally called 'Kalsan' (meaning knife mountain) before being refined to 'Galsan'. At the entrance of Galsan, there is a Children's Traffic Park, and on the mid-slope, there are rest areas such as a central plaza and walking trails. At the summit, there is an observatory where you can take in Yangcheon at a glance. At the top of Galsan, along with 'Galsanjeong' pavilion, the country's first 'Large Triangulation Point' is installed.
