Namyangho Lake (Namyanghwangra)

경기도 화성시 장안면 수촌리~우정읍 이화리

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Namyanghwangra is an area where 1,211ha of reclaimed farmland was formed upon the completion of the 2,065m Namyang Embankment on December 20, 1973. Namyangho Lake, an artificial lake created alongside the embankment construction, spans 967ha and is a tourist attraction designated as one of Hwaseong's Eight Scenic Spots. Rice produced in the Namyang reclaimed land contains high alkaline content, boasting the best quality among Gyeonggi rice. The vast fields offer different seasonal abundance, but especially the golden fields in autumn harmonize with Namyangho Lake, adding richness and fullness. In winter, it becomes an excellent habitat for bean geese seeking plant-based food. In the fields that once formed golden waves in autumn, bean geese gather in flocks, and mallards settle near Jangan Bridge. By parking on the roadside and simply opening the window, winter migratory birds can be observed without special equipment. It is also famous for ice fishing in winter. At the entrance of Namyang Embankment, the left side is Namyangho Lake and the right side is the sea, making it a unique spot where both the sea and the lake can be seen at once.
