Why travelers stop here
Bonggol Neighborhood Park is located south of the Godeok International High-Tech Industrial Complex, and the park is developed around Bonggol Reservoir. The name Bonggol is said to mean a valley between peaks, and it is the name of a valley south of the old Hanryu Ranch, with Bonggol Reservoir below and a park surrounding it. Inside Bonggol Neighborhood Park, there are facilities such as a soccer field, a lawn square, a theme garden, a retention pond with an observation deck, and an environmental purification forest. Bonggol Retention Pond within Bonggol Neighborhood Park was an important wetland that supplied water to the surrounding fields and rice paddies. Currently, due to development in Pyeongtaek city, it is in crisis and exists as one of the few remaining wetlands in the city that shelters relocated small creatures such as the gold-spotted pond frog, the narrow-mouthed toad, and the Suwon tree frog. There is a walking path made of wooden decks around Bonggol Retention Pond, where you can see signs about the plants living in the wetland and the habitats of endangered species.
