Seohae Bridge

경기도 평택시 포승읍

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Seohae Bridge is a bridge connecting Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province and Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, completed in 2000 after seven years of construction. Spanning the wide sea of Asan Bay along the West Coast Expressway like a cloud bridge, Seohae Bridge creates a magnificent landscape harmonizing with the sunset. As the gateway to the west coast, the center of logistics transportation in Northeast Asia, it connects Gyeonggi Province and South Chungcheong Province across Asan Bay, reducing logistics costs and shortening travel time between Seoul and Mokpo. Built as a complex structure combining cable-stayed bridge, FCM bridge, and PSM bridge, the main tower reaches a height of 182m, equivalent to a 60-story building, with a total length of 7.3km and a width of 31.4m. Constructed with domestic capital and technology, it contributed to the advancement of Korea's civil engineering technology, introduced the nation's first Bridge Management System (B.M.S), and the shape of the bridge's main tower embodies the form of a temple flagpole support, exuding Korean aesthetic beauty.
