Korean Peninsula Ecological Peace Comprehensive Tourism Center

The Korean Peninsula Ecological Peace Comprehensive Tourism Center was established to foster the representative DMZ peace tourism destination of South Korea as a central hub. As part of the Korean Peninsula Ecological Peace Belt Project promoted by Paju City, it was built with a total floor area of 3,982㎡ at Imjingak, which attracts 3 million domestic and international tourists annually, and opened in August 2022. The Korean Peninsula Ecological Peace Comprehensive Tourism Center consists of a convenience building and an exhibition building. The convenience building houses a special exhibition hall, exhibition space, DMZ tourism ticket office, food court, and visitor center. The exhibition building features a state-of-the-art Korean Peninsula virtual reality travel experience center, where three tourism contents—DMZ ecological experience, Korean Peninsula peace experience, and DMZ theme videos—are combined with cutting-edge 5G technology to provide virtual reality experiences. The DMZ peace tourism course (Imjingak) is a 2-hour 30-minute course visiting the Third Tunnel, Dora Observatory, and Tongilchon, operating both walking and monorail tours. The Imjingang Riverside Ecological Trail experience starts from Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri, passes through Tongil Bridge, Chopyeongdo, and Imjin Naru, and extends to Yulgok Wetland Park over approximately 9.1km for ecological exploration. This area was previously used as a patrol road with barbed wire fences and civilian access restrictions, and has been open to the public as an ecological trail along the Imjin River since 2016. Along the ecological trail, winter migratory birds such as white-naped cranes, eagles, and geese can be observed. In spring, visitors can enjoy rapeseed flowers, and in autumn, cosmos flowers at Yulgok Wetland Park and Yulgok Arboretum.
