Why travelers stop here
Gasa Beach, where red camellia flowers are said to dye the blue seawater red in March, is the only beach on Joyak Island, surrounded by hundreds of centuries-old camellia trees, along with magnolia and nutmeg trees, encircling the entire beach in a round embrace. Gasa-dong's evergreen broadleaf forest blocks the sky and creates a shade cover. Beneath the shade, cool water flowing down from Jangsan Mountain is so cold even in midsummer that it is difficult to dip your feet in. Joyak Island has been famous for black goats since ancient times, and it is gaining attention as a summer resort where you can cool off and also nourish your body with black goat meat. Nearby, there is a temple called Haedongsa with a great view. The surrounding area is a sea fishing spot, rich in fish resources such as sea bream, sea bass, and rockfish, allowing fishing all year round.
