Why travelers stop here
Beotgogae is a hill pass located on the border between Mokwang-ri and Suneung-ri in Yangseo-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun. Beotgogae has the Beotgogae Tunnel that passes through the two areas. Along with Gapyeong Hwaak Tunnel Ssamji Park, it is one of the top three stargazing spots near Seoul. It is famous for offering better views of stars than the nearby abandoned Guduk Station in Yangpyeong-gun. On weekends, it is crowded with people from all over the country who gather to observe and photograph the stars. However, since it is a mountain valley with no light after sunset, safe driving is necessary. There are no parking lots or convenience facilities like in regular tourist attractions, and there is no lighting managed for Beotgogae, so caution is required. When darkness arrives at Beotgogae, the sky is full of stars. Beotgogae offers a mesmerizing experience as if the stars are about to pour down overhead.
