Soolsaem

Located near Yangji IC, [Soolsaem, a Brewery Near Seoul] is a traditional brewery that also offers tour and experience programs. With the vision of 'new and exciting liquor, trustworthy spring,' it produces traditional liquor and naturally fermented vinegar using nuruk (fermentation starter) based on the wisdom of ancestors found in ancient texts. In 2016, it introduced red makgeolli made from red yeast rice, [Drunken Monkey] and [Red Monkey], and in 2017, it was selected as a [2017 Brewery to Visit] by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. In 2018, its distilled soju [Mir] (meaning 'dragon' in Korean) won the Presidential Award. Representative products include Drunken Monkey, Red Monkey, the Mir series, and Ihwaju (a yogurt-like drinking liquor). It gained attention after being featured on tvN's [How Long Will You Make Me Dance?] traditional liquor episode.

Soolsaem started as a brewery combining traditional liquor experiences and education. Its [Brewery School] operates as a professional educational institution offering one-day classes on liquor and vinegar, as well as courses on making house makgeolli and fermented vinegar, and regional specialty liquor startups. At the tasting room, all types of liquor produced at the brewery can be sampled for free. Popular one-day class programs include a 1-hour tour program and a 2-hour traditional liquor making experience. The tour program includes an introduction to the brewery, tasting of Soolsaem products, and a brewery tour. The traditional liquor making experience allows participants to easily make their own Korean liquor or fermented food to take home, with options to make makgeolli, ihwaju, or distill soju (one demonstration). Participants can choose either the tour or the liquor making experience, or both. Individual experience applications are available on Open Day, which is the fourth Saturday of each month. It gained attention after being featured on tvN's [How Long Will You Make Me Dance?] traditional liquor episode.
