Ilwol Arboretum, an ecological landmark and urban hub arboretum of Suwon City, opened in May 2023 and holds 2,106 species, 52,551 trees, and 429,618 plants. Located within Ilwol Park, the arboretum features 16 diverse gardens including Dasan Garden, Forest Garden, Conifer Garden, Ecological Observation Garden, Grassland Garden, Dry Garden, Exhibition Greenhouse, Ornamental Garden, Shrub Garden, and Grass Garden. Ilwol Arboretum collects, propagates, and displays plants, and conducts various academic research based on collected plants, connects nature and people through education, and carries out projects such as conservation of plant species, recreation and citizen self-development and leisure promotion, cooperation activities for biodiversity conservation, and information exchange. The arboretum operates a tour program twice a day and offers forest healing programs including forest exercises, forest trail walks, and meditation. It also runs a native crop garden management program.
