Pungdong Anigol

경기도 고양시 일산동구 풍산로 35

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Pungdong Anigol is a Gyeonggi-do designated food culture street located in Goyang-si, a city of culture and arts filled with beautiful lakes and the scent of flowers. The origin of Anigol dates back to the Gyeongui Line Baengma Station, which remains a memory for those who passed through their 20s in the 1970s and 1980s, waiting for the train to Sinchon with their lovers, stamping their feet. With the development of the Ilsan New Town in the early 1990s, most of the bars and cafes around Baengma Station disappeared. However, about 2km away, in the Pungdong area of Ilsan-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, cafes and restaurants combining acoustic guitar performances with various foods have sprung up in recent years, reviving the old glory of the Baengma Cafe Village and bringing back memories. Anigol is also called 'Aehyeon-gol Street,' derived from the old place name 'Aehyeon Village' in the Pungdong area. Village elders say that the name 'Anigol' originated from the locals pronouncing 'Aehyeon-gol' as it sounded, evolving from Aehyeon-gol to Aein-gol to Anigol.
