Tomb of Hyomin-gong Yi Gyeong-jik

A tomb monument (sindobi) is erected on the southeast side of a tomb to record the lifelong achievements of a king or high-ranking official. This monument honors Yi Gyeong-jik, a civil official of the mid-Joseon period.

Yi Gyeong-jik was a disciple of Yi Hang-bok and Kim Jang-saeng. He began his official career at Seungmunwon during the reign of King Seonjo of Joseon, served as Ganghwa Yusa, and held various positions including Doseungji and Hojo Panseo until his death due to illness. In 1617 (the 9th year of King Gwanghaegun's reign), he went to Japan as a member of a diplomatic mission (Hoedapsa), and in 1642 (the 2nd year of King Injo's reign), when Yi Gwal's Rebellion broke out, he achieved great merit as Jeolla Jeoldosa. In 1627 (the 5th year of King Injo's reign), during the Jeongmyo Horan (Manchu invasion), he served as Byeongjo Champan and negotiated with Qing envoys to establish a peace treaty.
