Why travelers stop here
Gasi Oreum is a volcanic cone located in Dongil-ri, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si. It was named Gasi Oreum because from ancient times, gasi trees (water oak trees) have grown abundantly throughout the oreum. At the summit, there is a horseshoe-shaped crater opening to the southwest. The southeastern side of the oreum is steep, while the northwestern side is generally gentle, and it is not high, making it easy to climb to the top. The oreum's hiking trail is well-maintained, and it offers a good view of the surrounding Mosulpo Oreum and the Daejeong-eup area. A farm road leads to the summit, and the area is densely forested with undergrowth, including yeodeok trees and bodhi trees, with some slopes cultivated up to the mid-slope. If you enter Gasi Oreum in your navigation, you can park near the cowshed on the roadside in the southwestern direction; if you enter the other address, Daejeong-dong Dongil-ri, you can park in the parking lot on the opposite side.
