Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Olympic Bridge is a bridge connecting Gwangjin-gu Guui-dong and Songpa-gu Pungnap-dong in Seoul. It was built to permanently commemorate the 24th Seoul Olympics, the starting point of Korea's globalization, and to handle traffic around the Olympic stadium. It is the first concrete cable-stayed bridge in Korea, with a length of 1.5 km. Four main towers, each 88 meters high symbolizing the 88 Seoul Olympics, stand, and the towers are shaped like the Olympic torch. The four towers represent the four pillars of year, month, day, and time, as well as the four seasons and four directions, and the 24 cables signify the 24th Seoul Olympic Games, with excellent artistry. Along with the construction of Olympic Bridge, a road park of about 2,500 pyeong and five rings with a diameter of 6 meters symbolizing global harmony, along with 24 commemorative sculptures, were created on the southern riverside. Olympic Bridge was built to commemorate the Seoul Olympics and is the first concrete cable-stayed bridge in Korea, selected through a public design competition, leaving many records in the history of Korean bridges.
