Why travelers stop here
Opened in 2014, the Eunpyeong History Hanok Museum is a representative cultural and artistic space of Eunpyeong that encompasses the history of Eunpyeong from the Unified Silla period to the modern and contemporary era, as well as the tradition and future of Hanok (traditional Korean houses). It was established to preserve the unique local lifestyle and cultural heritage containing the history of Eunpyeong, instilling understanding and pride in local culture among residents and students, and to foster a sense of affection for the community by highlighting Eunpyeong-gu's identity. The main facility, the permanent exhibition hall, consists of the Eunpyeong History Room, which displays the history of Eunpyeong and artifacts excavated from the New Town development, and the Hanok Exhibition Room, which showcases actual Hanok, the construction process of Hanok, and the scientific and eco-friendly aspects of Hanok. Inside the museum, there are auxiliary facilities such as a special exhibition hall, a small library, a hands-on learning room, an education room, and a Hope Toy Library. Outside, along various pathways, there is an outdoor exhibition area featuring a tile kiln site from the Unified Silla period and other stone artifacts, as well as Yongchuljeong, a rooftop pavilion, allowing visitors to enjoy both exhibitions and relaxation in an open structure.
