Godeok Lifelong Learning Center opened as Godeok Library in 1984 and has since contributed to improving the quality of life of local residents by promoting reading habits and providing various lifelong education services. It changed its name to Godeok Lifelong Learning Center in 1999. The center offers lifelong learning classes for adults and children in the area. Courses include [foreign language classes] such as English, Japanese, and Chinese; [culture and arts classes] such as art, pottery, and musical instruments; [liberal arts classes] such as real estate auction, Chinese characters, and creative writing; and various IT skill enhancement courses such as smartphone use, video editing, and digital drawing. In addition, various cultural events are held, including an annual lifelong learning festival in autumn and ongoing exhibitions. Facilities include a literature and information room, a children's room, a digital materials room, lecture rooms, a self-study room, a learning equipment room, and a smart library. A unique space called 'Pilsa Gonggam' is available for handwriting experiences. The center holds approximately 180,000 books; the literature and information room contains general books and magazines on all topics, while the children's room has books and magazines for infants and children. The digital materials room, operated in conjunction with the literature and information room, offers non-book materials such as DVDs and audiobooks, along with 21 computers and 12 laptops for regular use. The center also provides various reading-related services such as vacation reading classes, reading groups by age group, and interlibrary loan services.
