The Sejong Center for the Performing Arts is an institution established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and is a representative cultural and arts institution in Seoul. Completed in 1978, it has served as a cradle of Korean performing arts and a hub for performing arts in Seoul. It has been recognized as a world-class performance venue, serving as a gateway for Korean performing arts and the sole passage for international performing arts. In the 1970s and 1980s, it was a cradle of Korean pure arts. As such, the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts is a living history of Korean performing arts, a space of memories for art lovers, and a representative cultural and arts institution of Korea, maintaining its reputation for over 20 years. Following the remodeling of the Sejong Grand Theater, the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts has carried out hardware renovations including the Sejong Chamber Hall, Sejong M Theater, the expansion of the Art Hall, Sejong Museum of Art, and Sejong S Theater, and is conducting various cultural events such as 'Walking with Art.' Furthermore, with the establishment purpose of contributing to the realization of citizen cultural welfare by expanding opportunities for cultural enjoyment and operating cultural arts that contribute to cultural development, it is creating an art landmark that makes citizens happier.
