The Diplomatic Archives is a special records management institution under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that establishes diplomatic records management policies and preserves and manages records in the diplomatic field. It operates a Diplomatic Document Reading Room, a Diplomatic History Exhibition Hall, a Diplomatic Experience Hall, and a Special Exhibition Hall to provide access to open diplomatic records and promote diplomatic activities to the public. The Diplomatic History Exhibition Hall displays major treaties, documents, photographs, and souvenirs related to diplomacy from the opening of ports in 1876 to the present, organized by period. The Diplomatic Experience Hall offers various interactive corners such as a model of an international conference podium, diplomatic quizzes, and photo sessions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs to help children and youth become more familiar with diplomatic activities. Additionally, the Special Exhibition Hall regularly holds special exhibitions on diplomatic themes. Guided tour programs for non-profit school groups are available twice each on weekday mornings and afternoons, and on Saturdays, a Diplomat School for children and youth is also operated.
