Why travelers stop here
Nodeul Island is an oval-shaped land located in the middle of Hangang Bridge, and its name is known to originate from 'Nodeul', meaning a stone where egrets play. From the 1930s to the 1950s, Nodeul Island was called Jungjido and was a beloved center of river culture in the city, with sandy beaches and a skating rink in the heart of the Han River. However, after the Han River development plans in the 1960s and 1970s, several large-scale development proposals fell through, and Nodeul Island became a forgotten island that was close but difficult to access. In 2012, efforts began to restore it as a cultural space connecting people through rest and meeting by the Han River, and in September 2019, Nodeul Island was reborn as a complex cultural base centered on music. The Live House on Nodeul Island, a space with nature, rest, and culture, is a specialized music performance venue consisting of two floors equipped with the largest stage platform, sound, lighting, and instrument facilities. It is a mid-sized performance hall with 456 seats (708 standing) where singers and audiences can breathe and enjoy performances up close. It is close to Exit 2 of Nodeul Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 9, and there are plenty of things to enjoy on Nodeul Island, making it worth exploring the entire island.
