Why travelers stop here
Sejong Gallery began in 1961 with the inaugural exhibition of the great Korean artist Kim Heung-soo, and has since provided broad and deep opportunities for art appreciation. In 1992, it reopened in the lobby of the first floor of Sejong Hotel, hosting progressive and capable artists and planning and organizing various exhibitions. Moreover, as an expanded concept of exhibition, it has received good responses by turning hotel public spaces and each restaurant outside the exhibition hall into galleries. As a result, it has firmly established itself as a cultural space that satisfies collectors and allows art lovers, as well as foreign hotel guests from Japan, Europe, and the United States, to fully enjoy art.
In 2003, Sejong Gallery built a show window gallery for external art viewing to open a new high-quality art culture venue, and in the second half of 2012, it underwent a major gallery renovation to transform into a new hotel-type complex cultural space. In 2013, the basement space was remodeled into a gallery, opening the Second Gallery. Currently, Sejong Gallery consists of the first floor, basement floor, and show window gallery, offering a distinctly different spatial experience from conventional flat galleries, and presenting diverse exhibitions suited to each space.
