Why travelers stop here
The Gayageum Sanjo Memorial Hall is the only memorial hall in Korea that displays various relics and materials related to the gayageum, allowing visitors to see the flow of the gayageum with its illustrious history at a glance. It serves as an educational field for Korean traditional music, making it easy for beginners unfamiliar with gayageum sanjo to access and experience it. The memorial hall was established to honor the musician Kim Chang-jo, who created gayageum sanjo, and to promote the historical significance of Yeongam as the hometown (root) of gayageum sanjo. The exhibition hall features various Korean traditional musical instruments, audio and video materials, and donated items from six major schools related to gayageum sanjo, all available for viewing at any time. The sanjo performance hall, which can accommodate about 250 people, can host gayageum performances and Korean traditional music events.
