Why travelers stop here
Galdu Village (Land's End Village), located at the southernmost tip of Korea's territory, was named after Galdu Mountain, which had many arrowroot vines, originally called 'Chikmeori' (arrowroot head) and later using the Chinese characters 'Galdu' (葛頭). This is a place where you can see both sunrise and sunset simultaneously. The sunrise rising between two adjacent islands called Maemseom in front of Galdu Port is the highlight of Galdu Village tourism. Particularly around mid-February and between October 20 and 25, the sunrise rising through the center of Maemseom is truly fantastic. Additionally, the approximately 17km Land's End Trail, part of the Land's End Millennium Forest Old Road Course 3, starts from this Land's End Village and connects to Mihwangsa History Trail and Dasan Choui Exchange Trail. The barrier-free coastal first trail, built from Galdu Village to Land's End Tower, is a walking path where you can fully enjoy the coastal natural scenery of Galdu Village, extending to the Skywalk in front of Land's End Tower, which offers a panoramic view of the open southwestern sea. Around the year-end and New Year, Galdu Village holds a sunset and sunrise festival, operating various festival programs such as a sunset event to shake off the bad luck of the past year and a wish boat launching event on New Year's morning. Through a sharing event, villagers cook rice cake soup (tteokguk) and share it with tourists, cheering each other's new year beginnings. Around Galdu Village, there are numerous attractions and activities such as Land's End Observatory, Land's End Skywalk, Land's End Monorail, Songho Beach, Sagumi Beach, Land's End Marine Natural History Museum, Land's End Auto Camping Resort, and Hwangto Nara Theme Village. From Galdu Port passenger terminal, you can take a boat to Nohwado, which goes to Bogildo.
