Why travelers stop here
Dume Makguksu is a makguksu restaurant recommended by locals, located at the entrance of Yongchu Valley. Tables are arranged both indoors and outdoors. The indoor seating area is old but neatly organized, requiring you to take off your shoes to sit. The outdoor area has four tables where you can dine while overlooking the Bukhangang River. If taking off your shoes is inconvenient, you can use the outdoor seating. The way to eat makguksu is to mix it with bibimjang (seasoned sauce), sugar, and sesame oil, then add broth to enjoy it as a red water noodle soup, which deepens the flavor. As side dishes, you can add suyuk (boiled pork slices) and jeonbyeong (Korean pancake). When ordering suyuk and jeonbyeong, Gapyeong pine nut makgeolli is a must. Its sweet and nutty flavor pairs well with the jeonbyeong and suyuk. Parking is conveniently available in the vacant lot next to the restaurant.
