Why travelers stop here
Gangneung Olympic Park is an Olympic legacy where the ice sports events of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics were held. Gangneung Olympic Park was newly named in consultation with the IOC (International Olympic Committee) considering names that are easy to understand in English and Korean and can continue to be used after the Games, for the area around the Gyodong cultural and sports facility complex in Gangneung-si during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Gangneung Olympic Park includes Gangneung Comprehensive Stadium, [Gangneung Arena] for figure skating and short track skating, [Gangneung Hockey Centre] for ice hockey, [Gangneung Speed Skating Stadium] for speed skating, and [Gangneung Curling Centre] for curling. After the Winter Olympics, Gangneung Arena is used as a multi-purpose cultural sports space, Gangneung Speed Skating Stadium as a multi-functional sports convention center, and Gangneung Hockey Centre as a dedicated ice hockey stadium. It is also adjacent to natural and cultural tourist attractions connecting Gyeongpo Beach and Lake, large-scale accommodation facilities, and Gangneung Station, the terminal station of the Gangneung Line KTX. Nearby tourist attractions include Heo Nanseolheon's Birthplace, Gyeongpo Lake and Gyeongpo Beach, the Cham Sori Gramophone Museum, and the Edison Museum.
