Why travelers stop here
For the jjanttongeo-tang (mudskipper soup), the fish is boiled, deboned, and the flesh is put back in whole while the head and bones are ground up, giving the soup a unique texture with chewy bits of meat. The addition of water pepper leaves removes any fishy smell, and optionally adding prickly ash powder suits one's taste, but since the flavor is strong, children or those who dislike strong tastes can enjoy it without the prickly ash powder. This restaurant's distinguishing feature is its use of homemade jeotjang (soy sauce aged with boiled soy sauce and blue crabs), doenjang (soybean paste), and gochujang (red chili paste), and the side dishes made without artificial seasonings are light, not too salty or spicy, which is pleasant. The initial smell of jjanttongeo-tang is similar to chueo-tang (mudfish soup), but upon tasting, one can experience a completely different flavor.
