Why travelers stop here
Located at the entrance of Tongdosa Temple, one of the three major temples in Korea, Gyeonggi Sikdang is known for its signature dishes: sanchae bibimbap (mountain vegetable bibimbap) and deodeok jeongsik (deodeok root set meal). Since 1975, it has been serving generous portions made from the most readily available ingredients of the time, continuing to attract tourists to this day. The food, seasoned with homemade doenjang (soybean paste) and gochujang (red chili paste), offers a rustic flavor, and the neat table settings evoke the atmosphere of a countryside feast, allowing diners to feel the warm hospitality.
