Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park

Located a 5-minute walk from Daegu Jungangno Station, Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park is a park created to preserve the site where the Gyeongsang Gamyeong (provincial government office) was located during the reign of King Seonjo of the Joseon Dynasty. From 1910 to 1965, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Office was located here, and after the provincial office moved, the park was established in 1970. The Gyeongsang Gamyeong was an administrative organization that oversaw the administration, military affairs, and trials of Gyeongsang Province during the Joseon Dynasty. Within the former Gyeongsang Gamyeong, there were several buildings such as Seonhwadang, Eunghyangdang, Jeseungdang, Eungsudang, and Jingcheonggak, but currently only Seonhwadang (designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Daegu Metropolitan City on December 26, 1972), the office of the Gyeongsang Province governor, and Jingcheonggak (a Tangible Cultural Property of Daegu Metropolitan City), the living quarters building, remain in Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park. Seonhwadang is considered a valuable resource given that few government office buildings remain today. The pavilion Gwanpungnu (Cultural Heritage Material of Daegu Metropolitan City) of Gyeongsang Gamyeong was moved to Dalseong Toseong in 1906, and a total of 29 monuments commemorating the virtuous governance of governors and Daegu magistrates remain in Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park. Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park is a downtown park where Seonhwadang and Jingcheonggak harmonize with green forests, featuring a main gate that highlights the beauty of old buildings, a fountain, stone walls, walking paths, and the [Bell of Unification] praying for the unification of the homeland. It is located in the center of downtown Daegu and was also called Jungang Park.
