Why travelers stop here
Located in Okcheon-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Okcheon Goeup Naengmyeon is a famous restaurant known for its Hwanghae-do-style naengmyeon (cold noodles), pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork), and meat wanja (meatballs). The area has even developed an Okcheon Naengmyeon Street, making it a local specialty. Particularly famous are the wanja and pyeonyuk served with the naengmyeon. The wanja is about 2-3 times thicker than a hamburger patty, pan-fried until crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The naengmyeon comes in two varieties: bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup). If you want to try both, you can order bibim naengmyeon, eat about half, then add broth to enjoy it as red mul naengmyeon. Hwanghae-do-style naengmyeon can be described as a taste somewhere between Pyongyang naengmyeon and Hamheung naengmyeon.
