Gyeongcheondae Tourist Site

Sangju Gyeongcheondae is praised as the 'No. 1 Scenic Spot of the Nakdong River,' where the river's course originating from Hwangji of Taebaek Mountain is considered the most beautiful. It is also called Jacheondae, meaning 'made by heaven.' Here, you can encounter numerous scenic spots and historical sites, including Cheonjubong Peak, which evokes the image of a crane drinking from the Nakdong River and soaring to the sky; a dense pine forest and observatory where you can rest while admiring the rocky cliffs and winding river; Muujeong Pavilion and Gyeongcheondae Monument, where the renowned scholar Woo Dam Chae Deuk-gi secluded himself and studied in 1637; and the legend of General Jeong Gi-ryong's dragon horse and horse feeding trough from the Imjin War.

The city of Sangju operates an observatory, artificial waterfall, Gyeongcheondae Children's Land, a camping ground, a swimming pool in summer, and a snow sledding slope in winter. This area has been developed as Gyeongcheondae Tourist Site, allowing Sangju citizens to enjoy rest and leisure, and tourists to engage in cultural tourism in connection with nearby regions. Nearby cultural heritage sites include the Tomb of King Sabeol, the Tomb of King of Ancient Gaya, the Three-Story Stone Pagoda in Hwadal-ri, Chunguisa Shrine (the historic site of General Jeong Gi-ryong, a renowned commander of the Imjin War), and Donamseowon Confucian Academy. Additionally, there are Sangju Paragliding Site, the set of MBC drama 'Sangdo,' and Sangju Art Village, making it an ideal place for family relaxation and sightseeing.
