Why travelers stop here
Gyenam Village, where Gyenam Beach is located, was the setting for the mid-1960s film <The Island Village Teacher>. Because Saseungbong Island blocks the waves coming from the south, Gyenam Beach has calmer waves compared to other beaches like the large pool. This cozy beach, about 200m long, is quieter than the crowded Puldeung or Keunpuran Beach, making it a good place for family travelers seeking healing by a quiet sea. The sand is fine and the slope is very gentle, so children can play in the water safely. When the tide goes out, small crabs or whelks can be caught in the rock crevices. Apart from restrooms and a drinking fountain, there are no notable facilities, but visitors set up parasols to enjoy a leisurely sea or pitch tents in the shade of trees for camping.
