Why travelers stop here

This ecological park is built on a site of 184,948m² near the shores of Gwangjuho Lake, featuring themed zones such as a nature observatory, nature study area, grassy relaxation plaza, and waterfront wetland. It is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Gwangju, making it easily accessible for citizens. Since its opening in March 2006, it has served as a natural ecology learning center for children and a resting space for citizens. Overall, the park gives a quiet and cool impression. Unless the weather is cold, visitors can directly observe ecological materials of flowers, animals, and plants. The park includes themed flower gardens planted with 170,000 wildflowers of various colors such as azaleas, forsythias, Japanese azaleas, roses, royal azaleas, and hydrangeas, as well as a floating leaf plant garden, waterfront observation deck, rock garden, and about 3,000 trees including snowbell trees, quince trees, flowering peach trees, and maple trees. Additionally, visitors can observe the actual hatching and growth process of various birds in the wetland. Wooden steps have been installed between the rows of metasequoia trees lining both sides.
