Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

As Korea's first privately operated botanical garden, it is a comprehensive botanical garden established in September 1969 by Jeong Tae-seong, chairman of Seongchang Enterprise Co., Ltd., to provide a resting place for Busan citizens. The area is 194,480㎡, and there are about 2,300 species of plants, including about 560 species of tropical plants, among which 20 species of palms and 540 species of succulents such as cacti are growing. In addition, the garden features beautiful plant landscapes, and various works using natural stones and rest facilities are provided, serving not only as an emotional retreat for urban residents but also as a venue for botanical research and education. Geumgang Botanical Garden has an artificial waterfall and 12 natural stone and landscaping works, and there is a viewing greenhouse where visitors can enjoy a wonderful atmosphere with various plants. The adjacent Geumgang Park operates the Geumgang Park Cable Car, and there are also tourist attractions such as the Busan Folk Arts Center, which inherits and preserves Dongnae Yaryu and Dongnae Hakchum, and the Busan Marine Natural History Museum, Korea's first specialized marine natural history museum.
