Why travelers stop here
Located at 36 Baeron Seongji-gil, Bongyang-eup, Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Kim Jong-myeong Leaf Art Gallery is the only exhibition space for leaf art in South Korea. Leaf art involves creating three-dimensional works using various leaves commonly found around us, such as those from plane trees, cork oaks, and maple trees. The gallery's founder, Kim Jong-myeong, is South Korea's first leaf artist. This home gallery, utilizing a 50-pyeong rural house, permanently displays about 100 leaf art pieces.
All exhibits are personally created by artist Kim Jong-myeong. Through the process of cutting and trimming flat leaves, the works reveal not only shading but also specific spatial descriptions such as perspective, earning them outstanding artistic recognition. Visitors can experience leaf art firsthand under the guidance of artist Kim Jong-myeong, and a self-service café is available where they can enjoy refreshments or simple tea, making it a pleasant exhibition hall to explore.
