Why travelers stop here
The Granulite Complex is a metamorphic rock body of granulite facies first reported in South Korea, associated with the collision between the northern and southern continents of China. It has been revealed that China was formed by the movement and collision of the South China Continent and the North China Continent 230 million years ago, followed by crustal deformation. The region related to this is the Imjingang Belt, which crosses the central part of the Korean Peninsula, and the Hwacheon Granulite Complex is a representative example. Within this complex, crustal materials formed at a depth of 30 km underground, including garnet produced by high-grade metamorphism, are observed, suggesting that the Korean Peninsula, like China, was formed by collision.
