The former Jukjeong Elementary School is a closed school where children left, much like the branch school in the movie "Mongdang Branch School Olympics." It opened in November 1956 as Daejin Elementary School's Jukjeong Branch School, was approved as Jukjeong Elementary School the following year, and closed in 2008 after producing 1,241 graduates, as clearly recorded on the small stone monument behind the school gate. Standing before the statue of anti-communist boy Lee Seung-bok next to the monument, one can see at a glance the single-story school building and the schoolyard now full of clover instead of children's laughter.
