Why travelers stop here
Located at the foot of Balwangsan Mountain, a famous mountain in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, this resort is called the 'Mecca of Korean skiing.' In 1975, it opened the first ski resort in Korea, and it was the second in Asia to be certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS) as capable of hosting international competitions. Daegwallyeong-myeon, where the resort is situated, has an average annual snowfall of 250 cm and a long winter, allowing visitors to enjoy skiing on slopes covered with natural snow. In addition to the ski slopes, the resort features a hotel, condominiums, a golf course, a water park, and the Balwangsan Tourist Cable Car. Balwangsan Mountain, at an elevation of 1,458 meters, is home to rare trees and wildflowers, making it an excellent ecological travel destination. Various wellness programs are offered to fully experience the beautiful nature of Balwangsan. Visitors can enjoy quality rest in the clean energy of Balwangsan through activities such as listening to forest interpreters' stories about the mountain and rare trees, music therapy using singing bowls (a Tibetan meditation tool), and healing yoga. The Balwangsan-gi Skywalk, built at the summit of Balwangsan, is a famous spot to admire the surrounding scenery. A shuttle bus operates regularly between KTX Jinbu Station and MONA YONGPYEONG.
