Jung-gu Cultural Center

Jung-gu Cultural Center is the first cultural center in Daegu, established under the Local Cultural Center Promotion Act to develop and pass down traditional cultural heritage, and to satisfy the cultural needs of local residents through research and investigation. It operates with the purpose of regional cultural development and promotion, including the dissemination, preservation, transmission, and enhancement of local culture, hosting local cultural events, domestic and international exchanges of traditional culture, and other projects contributing to regional cultural development. It was founded in November 1991 as Daegu Directly Governed City Cultural Center in Dusan-dong, Suseong-gu. Subsequently, as cultural centers at the basic local government level were established one after another, it was renamed Daegu Jung-gu Cultural Center in 1995, and moved to the 4th floor of the Bongsan Cultural Center, completed in 2004.

Based on a long history and rich cultural heritage, it plans and operates cultural projects such as local cultural events, social and cultural activities, discovery and research of local culture, promotion of youth cultural awareness, and regional cultural exchange projects. It annually runs etiquette classes, a choir, and cultural tours, and actively organizes various cultural and artistic activities each year, including visiting cultural events, family open concerts, street dance performances, the opera La Bohème, making gatu (traditional hats), erecting a song monument at Cheongna Hill, the year-end concert 'Ave Maria Night', poetry recitation nights, the Andong Hahoe Byeolsingut Talchum play, the National Women's Chinese Poetry Contest, and the National Chinese Poetry Contest.
