Deokcheonseowon (Sancheong)

This seowon was established in 1576 (the 9th year of King Seonjo's reign) by Confucian scholars to honor the scholarly virtue of Nammyeong Jo Sik, on the site where he once taught.<br>In 1609 (the 1st year of King Gwanghaegun's reign), it received a royal charter and became a state-sponsored seowon, but was abolished during the time of Daewongun. It was later rebuilt in the 1930s and continues to this day. Recently, many visitors have been coming to see the beautiful crape myrtle flowers.
