Dogang Yeongdang

Located next to Buyeo Dongheon, this shrine enshrines and holds memorial services for the portraits of Hong Ga-sin, Heo Mok, and Chae Je-gong. Originally a government office building of Buyeo-hyeon in the late Joseon period, it was newly constructed in 1971 to house these figures. The shrine, with a front of 3 kan and a side of 2 kan, opens the front 1 kan to create a worship space, while the rear is a single room enshrining the portraits of the three individuals. Hong Ga-sin was a civil official of the mid-Joseon period. He passed the civil service examination in the 22nd year of King Myeongjong's reign and served as Ganghwa Busa, Vice Minister of Justice, and Governor of Ganghwa Island. In the 37th year of King Seonjo's reign, he was recorded as the first-class contributor in suppressing the Yi Mong-hak Rebellion and was enfeoffed as Lord of Wonyang the following year. He later rose to the position of Minister of Justice. Heo Mok was a civil official of the late Joseon period. Without passing the civil service examination, he rose to the position of Minister of Personnel and eventually to Second State Councilor. He was also skilled in painting, calligraphy, and writing, and was particularly renowned for his seal script, earning the praise of being the best in the East. Chae Je-gong was a civil official of the late Joseon period. He began his official career after passing the civil service examination in 1735. He risked his life to prevent the deposition of King Yeongjo's crown prince, thereby gaining the king's trust. Subsequently, he served as Minister of Military Affairs, Minister of Rites, and Minister of Taxation, and later held the highest administrative responsibilities as Chief State Councilor and Left State Councilor. He also participated in the construction of Suwon Fortress and in the compilation of the Veritable Records of Gyeongjong, the Veritable Records of Yeongjong, and the Gukjo Bogam. Around Dogang Yeongdang, there are Buyeo Dongheon, Buyeo Gwanbuk-ri Historic Site, Buyeo Gaeksa, and the Sabi Fortress Virtual Experience Center, making it convenient for a linked visit.
