Donggeomeun Oreum

Donggeomeun Oreum, located in Jongdal-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City, is also called Geomi Oreum (Spider Oreum), Donggeomeun-i Oreum, or Donggeomeun Oreum. The name 'Donggeomeun-i Oreum' is said to come from the fact that there is another black oreum in Jocheon, so 'dong' (east) was added, and the oreum appears black. Another theory says it is called Geomi Oreum because the slopes extending in all directions resemble a spider's web. Unlike typical oreums that are round and smooth, its ridges appear as if they are about to break, and from a distance, it looks like multiple oreums. Geomi Oreum shows various shapes depending on the viewing direction. From Baegyagi Oreum, it looks like a spider with its legs raised, and from the opposite direction, it resembles a camel with two humps. There are three main hiking courses: passing in front of the high oreum from the entrance of Gujwa Public Cemetery, following the Munseogi Oreum path from the entrance of Baegyagi Oreum, and using the forest road next to Wollangji. The blue sky, deep green fields, distant Udo Island and Seongsan Ilchulbong, and the blue sea create a spectacular view, and nearby oreums such as Baegyagi Oreum and Darangswi Oreum can also be seen at a glance. It has a total of three craters: two funnel-shaped circular craters and one horseshoe-shaped crater, and the overlapping craters with lush grass and trees inside give an exotic feel.
