Why travelers stop here
Dongmyeong-dong Cafe Street, emerging as a hot place, was once a representative affluent neighborhood of Gwangju, mixing high-end houses and old hanoks from the 1970s to 1990s. It lost its vitality due to the decline of the old downtown, but as academies concentrated in Dongmyeong-dong, cafes for parents began to appear. These cafes gradually pursued unique interiors and beverages, leading to the establishment of Dongmyeong-dong Cafe Street, now a local brand with various styles of cafes. With a unique atmosphere and a collection of cafes of diverse styles and themes, visitors can choose the ambiance and menu that suits them. As a cafe street created in the alleys of the old downtown, parking is not convenient, but there is a parking lot affiliated with the National Asian Culture Center nearby. Dongridan-gil has many alleyways and small parks, making it a great place for walks or relaxation. Currently, the writings on the ground and murals with unique paintings are worth seeing, and it has become a travel spot emerging as a place for unique cafes, artworks, and rest.
