Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Dunji is a Jeju dialect term referring to a place slightly higher than the surrounding flatland. Dunjibong is named after the many dunji (lava debris flows, etc.) in the area. Although it is not a frequently visited oreum by tourists, it offers a panoramic view of Jeju Island from the summit, rivaling more famous oreums. While not high, there are some steep sections along the trail. Dunjibong has a horseshoe-shaped crater opening to the southwest, with its original topography relatively well preserved. In front of the crater, there are many small hills made of lava fragments. Dunjibong is covered with pine, cedar, and cypress forests, with Japanese black pines and silver grass also widely distributed. While climbing the oreum, you can see many tombs surrounded by various stone walls. On a clear day, reaching the summit allows you to view Hallasan Mountain and the oreums in Gujwa-eup and Jocheon-eup. At the base of Dunjibong lies Cloud Hill. You can enjoy some quiet time alone or a healing trip while climbing the serene Dunjibong and admiring the scenery of Jeju Island.
