Why travelers stop here
Duncheolsan is a mountain that rises prominently as the ridge flowing down from Hwangmaesan passes through Jeongsusan and descends to the Gyeonghogang River. Located between Sancheong-eup, Sinan-myeon, and Sindeung-myeon, it faces Ungseokbong and is called Duncheolsan due to the legend that iron was produced here. There are various hiking courses. There is a course starting from Simgeo Village in Sinan-myeon, going through a deep valley straight to the summit of Duncheolsan; a course from Oesong-ri via a rocky peak to the summit; a course from Duncheol, where the Duncheol Branch of Wolseong Elementary School is located, to the summit; a course from Cheokji Village to Duncheolsan; and a ridge course from Dangye in Sindeung-myeon, starting at Jeongchwiam, climbing Daeseongsan, and then traversing the ridge to Duncheolsan. Nearby tourist attractions include Hyoryeombong and Daeseongsan.
