Why travelers stop here
Deungeok Hot Spring is a large-scale hot spring complex located in Deungeok-ri, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan Metropolitan City, at the foot of Sinbulsan Mountain, known as the Alps of Yeongnam. Its official name is Deungeok Hot Spring Source Protection District, and it is also called Sinbulsan Hot Spring. The hot spring water is an alkaline bicarbonate spring containing calcium, extracted from 600 to 800 meters underground. It is effective for various skin diseases, neuralgia, digestive disorders, bronchitis, high blood pressure, and skin beauty, and it also serves as drinkable mineral water. Nearby tourist attractions include Amethyst Cave Country, Jakcheonjeong, the Silla temple Seoknamsa, and Tongdosa, as well as connections to Yeongchuksan, Gajisan, and Jaeyaksan Mountains, allowing visitors to enjoy both hiking and relaxation. The main road in front of the hot spring complex is actually a downhill slope, but due to an optical illusion, it appears to be an uphill road, known as the Ghost Road. If you stop your car at the point marked with a START sign and put the gear in neutral, the car will appear to slide uphill.
