Gumunso Village

Located at the southern gateway of Gangwon-do and Taebaek-si, adjacent to Bonghwa-gun, this village is home to Gumunso, which, according to the Jeonggamrok, is said to have its door open at the hour of Ja (midnight) as one goes up the upper reaches of the Nakdong River. In Gumunso Village, there is the Taebaek Paleozoic Natural History Museum, where one can geologically study Earth's history and Paleozoic natural history. Gumunso has various legends, and in this village, visitors can experience not only farming but also traditional culture and scientific creative education. Along the old riverbed (Gurado) where water once flowed, a village trail has been created, allowing visitors to take a healing walk and travel through hundreds of millions of years of time.
