Hoengseong Lake

Hoengseong Lake was created when five villages in Gapcheon-myeon—Junggeum-ri, Budong-ri, Hwajeon-ri, Gubang-ri, and Podong-ri—were submerged. Around the dam, the beautiful scenery of these villages rises above the water surface, creating a truly spectacular view. In addition, the nation's only water exhibition hall is located here, reminding many visitors of the importance of water. The cherry trees planted along the road from Hoengseong-eup to the dam create a beautiful spring night landscape, making it an excellent drive course, and the hiking trails in the surrounding area also offer stunning views of the dam. At Junggeum-ri, at the far end of Hoengseong Lake, stands 'Manghyang-ui Dongsan' (Hill of Longing for Home), built to preserve the hometown love of the displaced residents. It houses a资料馆 that preserves the cultural heritage of the submerged area and the traces of the displaced residents' lives, along with a replica of the old Hwaseongjeong Pavilion. From the Hwaseongjeong Pavilion, one can be fortunate enough to see the mist rising in wisps, unfolding like a scene from an Oriental painting.
