Why travelers stop here
Daegyo Stream is located along the western outskirts of the Cheorwon Plain, and in the southern part of the plain, it crosses the plain from east to west and meets the main stream of the Hantangang River near Goseokjeong. This stream is characterized by basalt cliffs on both banks, with basalt cliffs about 25 meters thick exposed over approximately 1.5 kilometers. For this reason, the Daegyo Stream Basalt Gorge is recognized as a representative basalt gorge area in the Hantangang River, and was designated as a Natural Monument in 2004 for its rarity and academic value.
